Are you suffering from:

  • Depression (including major, moderate, mild, postnatal and bipolar)

  • Anxiety

  • Fatigue

  • Burn-out

  • Break-down

  • Premenstrual syndrome (PMS) or Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD)?

Would you like to improve your mood, increase your energy levels or work on your stress management or resilience?

If this sounds like you, you're in the right place.

Dr. Janelle's approach to treating depression, anxiety, fatigue and other mood issues is to address often overlooked biochemical (physical) causes.

The biochemical imbalances that can lead to mental unwellness can include:

  • Nutritional deficiencies (eg. mineral, vitamin, amino acid and essential fatty acids)

  • Hormonal imbalances (e.g. estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, thyroid, adrenal)

  • Gut dysbiosis and infections

  • Toxic overload and poor detoxification

  • Food intolerances and blood sugar imbalances

  • Inflammation and oxidative stress

  • Poor mitochondrial health (low energy production)

  • Genetic weaknesses (or other imbalances that run in the family) (e.g. MTHFR, COMT, pyroluria/mauve factor)

To investigate these biochemical causes, Dr. Janelle uses health questionnaires and comprehensive integrative laboratory tests. These tests can investigate the biochemical imbalances mentioned above. By using targeted lab testing we eliminate much of the the guess work. What's better is that most of these tests can be done in the privacy of your own home. We can assess each biochemical imbalance and create an individualised diet, supplement and lifestyle programme to rebalance your body. This leads to faster results and less time and money wasted, so that you can get back to what's most important for you: living your life well.

Dr. Janelle only sees a small number of clients. She offers intensive ongoing programmes (rather than one off appointments) to provide the best care for clients. This includes enhancing motivation, providing regular proactive support and enabling top quality care, which leads to faster health improvements.

Please note that Dr. Janelle is not currently seeing children under the age of 12, and can only take on clients from New Zealand.

Dr. Janelle works with clients primarily over Skype and telephone as the health programmes she has designed are based on the results of lab tests that can usually be done in your own home.

The types of tests that are used require urine, saliva or stool samples. Occasionally, a blood drawer may be necessary. Information on how to collect these samples will be provided during your appointment.

The Premium Programme includes:

  • An initial one hour appointment with Dr. Janelle (via Skype or telephone), which involves:

    • A discussion of your health history, symptoms and health goals

    • An individualised phase one treatment plan, including dietary, supplement and integrative laboratory test recommendations created for you

    • A review of your answers to a 12-page health questionnaire prior to the appointment

  • Fortnightly consultations with Dr. Janelle (via Skype or telephone) starting one month after the initial appointment. These will be alternating between a 40-minute consultation and a 20-minute check-in

  • Ongoing individualised treatment plans, including: dietary, lifestyle, supplementation and integrative lab testing recommendations

  • Access to high quality practitioner-only supplement products

  • Access to practitioner-only international integrative laboratory testing such as

    • Genova ION Profile

    • Genova Organic Acid Test

    • DUTCH Hormone Complete Test

    • Complete Microbiome Mapping Stool Test

    • IgG/IgA Food Sensitivity Testing

    • FitGenes Genetic Testing

  • Cost: $299 every 4 weeks ongoing (billed at $149.50 every 2 weeks)

At the first appointment, we will ask you to order 1-2 integrative laboratory tests. Monthly Maintenance Programme: 40-minute appointment every 4 weeks $199 every 4 weeks ongoing (billed at $99.50 every 2 weeks)

These integrative laboratory tests are only available through qualified health practitioners like Dr. Janelle. Many biochemical factors can lead to mental unwellness. It can be difficult to know which ones are affecting you. By using cutting-edge integrative laboratory testing, we can uncover the root causes of your symptoms. This gives us the information we need to create an individualised treatment plan.

It's often said that all health begins in the gut. Mental health is no exception. The link between poor gut health and poor mental health is now well established in the scientific literature. Assessing gut health is important, especially if you have symptoms such as diarrhoea, constipation, food intolerances, bloating, stomach pain, reflux or autoimmune disorders.

Using cutting edge PCR technology the complete Microbiome Mapping Stool Test assesses the presence of:

  • Parasites

  • Worms

  • Opportunistic bacteria

  • Fungi

  • Yeast

  • Bacterial pathogens

  • Viral pathogens and normal gut flora.

It also measures calprotectin, pancreatic elastase, secretory IgA, zonulin and B-glucuronidase.

Collection Method: At home stool collection

OligoScan testing allows a practitioner to make a quick and precise analysis of the mineral and heavy metals in the tissues of their patient. The measurement is made in minutes at a practitioners clinic using a portable spectrophotometer device (i.e. the handscanner). The collected data from the patient is sent in a few clicks to the secure central server at OligoScan and we get back the results within a few seconds.

The OligoScan reports on 20 different minerals and 10 different heavy metals.

The minerals include calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, silicon, sodium, potassium, copper, zinc, iron, manganese, chromium, vanadium, boron, cobalt, molybdenum, iodine, lithium, germanium, selenium and sulphur.

The heavy metals include aluminium, antimony, silver, arsenic, barium, beryllium, bismuth, cadmium, mercury, nickel, platinum, lead, thallium, and thorium.

Collection Method: This test requires the patient to visit a clinic that offers the OligoScan Testing. Click here for a list of New Zealand practitioners offering the Oligoscan test.

Cost: $120-150 (depending on the provider)

Mental unwellness is known to run in families. Mental health concerns and most other diseases are not caused by just one faulty gene. They occur as the result of weaknesses in multiple genes coupled with psychological, social, nutritional and environmental factors. However, understanding your biochemical weaknesses from a genetic perspective will help you identify the processes in your body that need support.

Genetic testing measures:

  • 67 genetic SNPS (single nucleotide polymorphisms) including MTHFR, COMT and other methylation genes,

  • Nutrient deficiency SNPS (vitamin D, vitamin B12, omega 3),

  • Food intolerance SNPS (Celiac disease, lactose intolerance, Caffeine sensitivity),

  • Oxidative stress and detoxification SNPS

  • Inflammation SNPS

Collection Method: At home saliva sample collection.

NOTE: Alternatively Ancestry DNA genetic testing may be analysed on request.

Cost: $575

Food sensitivities can contribute to anxiety, depression, fatigue, irritable bowel syndrome, eczema, autoimmune conditions, and weight gain. Delayed sensitivities to foods, however, are hard to recognise and it's often difficult to pinpoint the offending foods. The IgG/IgA Food Sensitivity Test is one tool that can be used to identify foods that are triggering a non-IgG (anaphylactic) immune response.

What is Measured: You are tested for IgG and IgA reactions (sensitivities) to 96 different foods including:

  • Dairy

  • Fish/seafood

  • Fruit

  • Grains/legumes/nuts

  • Meat/poultry

  • Eggs

  • Herbs/spices

  • Vegetables

Collection Method: At home blood spot collection.

Cost: $466.70
